Greyhounds Spread Betting Guide

Multitraps

Explanation: Predict the total score for a particular meeting using the following system: multiply the trap number of the winning dog in a race by the trap number of the runner up, and then add together the totals for all races at the meeting. For example, if the number 4 dog wins the first race and the number 6 dog is second, then this race gets 24 points. The total for each of the remaining races are added to this sum.

Example: Walthamstow Multitraps (12) 134 - 139

This quote says that using the above scoring system the total for the twelve races at Walthamstow will be between 134 - 139.

If you think it will be more than 139, you go higher (buy).

If you think it will be less than 134, you go lower (sell).

The total for Walthamstow is 154.

If you had bought at 139, you would win your stake multiplied by 15 (154 - 139)

If you had sold at 134, you would lose your stake multiplied by 20 (154 - 134)

Favourites

Explanation: Predict the total points scored by the favourites at an entire meeting using the following scoring criteria: Winner (15pts); Second (5). If there are joint favourites, the dog with the lowest trap number counts as the favourite.

Example: Sheffield Favourites (8) 57 - 60

This quote says using the above scoring criteria, the total points scored by favourites in the eight races at the meeting will be between 57 - 60.

If you think it will be more than 60, you go higher (buy).

If you think it will be less than 57, you go lower (sell).

Four favourites win and two finish second. The market therefore settles at 70. (15 x 4) + (5 x 2)

If you had bought at 60, you would win your stake multiplied by 10 (70 - 60)

If you had sold at 57, you would lose your stake multiplied by 13 (70 - 57)

Bananas

Explanation: Predict the total number for a particular meeting using the following system: multiply the trap number of the winner by the trap number of the runner-up, then take that figure and multiply by the trap number of the third placed dog. Then add the total number for all races at the meeting. (For example, if the first three dogs home in a race were traps 2, 4 and 6, the calculation for that race would be: 2 x 4 x 6 = 48

Example: Perry Barr Bananas (8): 280 - 300

This quote says that using the above scoring criteria, the total number for the meeting, will be between 280 - 300.

If you think it will be more than 300, you go higher (buy).

If you think it will be less than 280, you go lower (sell).

The total number for the meeting is 250.

If you had bought at 300, you would lose your stake multiplied by 50 (300 - 250)

If you had sold at 280, you would win your stake multiplied by 30 (280 - 250)

Winning Distances

Explanation: Predict the combined total winning distances, in lengths, at a particular meeting. Distances under half a length are scored as follows: Short Head (0.1); Head (0.2); Neck (0.3).

Example: Crayford - winning distances (8): 18 - 20

This quote says the combined winning distances, in lengths, for the eight races at the meeting will be between 18 - 20.

If you think it will be more than 20, you go higher (buy).

If you think it will be less than 18, you go lower (sell).

The combined winning distances market for the meeting settles at 10.

If you had bought at 20, you would lose your stake multiplied by 10 (20 - 10)

If you had sold at 18, you would lose your stake multiplied by 8 (18 - 10)

Trap Performances

Explanation: Predict the points scored at a particular meeting by a named trap number using the following scoring system: Winner (15pts); Second (5pts).

Example: Walthamstow (8) - Trap 1 performance: 30 - 33

This quote says the points scored, using the above scoring criteria, by Trap 1 in the eight races at the meeting will be between 30 - 33.

If you think it will be more than 33, you go higher (buy).

If you think it will be less than 30, you go lower (sell).

Three dogs in trap 1 win their races. None finish second. The market therefore settles at 45. (15 x 3)

If you had bought at 33, you would win your stake multiplied by 12 (45 - 33)

If you had sold at 30, you would lose your stake multiplied by 15 (45 - 30)

Race Index

Explanation: Predict the points scored by a named dog in a given race at a particular meeting using the following scoring criteria: Winner (50pts); Runner-up (25); Third (10).

Example: Walthamstow 9.45 - Westmead Hawk: 35 - 38

This quote says that, using the above scoring criteria, Westmead Hawk's points total for the race will be between 35 - 38.

If you think it will be more than 38, you go higher (buy).

If you think it will be less than 35, you go lower (sell).

Westmead Hawk wins the race and scores 50 points.

If you had bought at 38, you would win your stake multiplied by 12 (50 - 38)

If you had sold at 35, you would lose your stake multiplied by 15 (50 - 35)
